Course Description

This is the second of five courses of the Leadership Excellence in Africa’s Public Sector (LEAPS) Program. The LEAPS Program is designed for senior officials in the Public Financial Management (PFM) with the skills needed for effective governance and public sector performance across Africa. The LEAPS program is offered in English and French.

This course enhances leadership effectiveness by focusing on self-awareness, emotional intelligence, ethics, integrity, adaptability, and a reflective learning mindset. It also provides a comprehensive exploration of how you can better understand your personal style and behaviors, manage your emotions effectively, and integrate ethical principles into your decision-making processes. You will develop practical strategies for adapting your leadership approaches to various contexts, fostering a growth-oriented mindset, and building a culture of continuous learning.

Target Audience

The course is designed for senior officials in public finance and public administration.

  • Recognize personal leadership styles and behaviors through self-reflection and self-assessment tools and articulate areas for personal growth and improvement.

  • Apply the components of emotional intelligence to effectively manage their own emotions, demonstrate empathy, and build positive relationships.

  • Integrate ethical decision-making principles and processes into their leadership practices and demonstrate integrity to build trust and credibility.

  • Exhibit adaptability in their leadership approaches and effectively manage change.

  • Advance and cultivate a growth mindset, engage in continuous learning and promote a culture of learning and innovation
